Monday Memories #7

Not a lot of time to say anything about this layout, it's one using photos from a few separate days in August 2012, and I used pretty much all the same products as usual!
Have a good evening!

Losing a beloved pet...

You know those days that you have to fight to get through, and every minute is a struggle? Today and yesterday were examples of those days.
I was doing some university work yesterday evening when my mum rang me to say that the dog we'd had for ten years, my sweet, sweet girl Bonnie, had been hit by a car and killed. I don't even know how I can begin to explain the pain this has caused me or the depths of how awful I really feel, but I feel like I need to write SOMETHING down to mark her passing.

Bonnie was one of those dogs that you could happily take into a room room of other animals, strangers and little kids, and you'd know that no matter what happened, she'd be calm. She never nipped, or jumped up, or misbehaved; she was perfect. I remember taking her on holiday with us when she was two, and even when another dog tried to attack her she just looked at him with a slightly bemused expression on her face, before looking up at me like: "what's wrong with him?!"

I know some people might laugh and make mean comments like "she was just a dog", but she WASN'T just a dog. She was beautiful inside and out, and I've never known a more gentle soul. My youngest brother has been destroyed by her death, he grew up with her and I remember him pulling her tongue out her mouth as a baby, and poking her ears, and her just cuddling up to him enjoying the attention.

She was the leader of our four dogs, and I have no doubt that she will be bossing people around wherever she is right now.

I love you sweet girl, and I miss you, and home will never feel quite right ever again.

Monday Memories #6

I can't believe I've managed to keep this feature going for six weeks! *Feels proud*.
Today we're going back to the very beginning of this album to October 2011, when my friends and I went on a walk through a forest, to take some photos for my friend's "Made in Chelsea" themed Media coursework.

Sadly the lighting is rubbish so I couldn't get any good photos of the double page layout as a whole, but I thought I'd show you some of the details. I used strips of patterned paper and laid them underneath my photos instead of the usual photo matte style, and I really like how it looks. One page has three portrait photos and the other has three landscape, so there's a bit of variation, but I kept the patterned papers the same for some form of continuity.

The first page of the spread has the title "country walk" spelled out with jack&jill letter stickers on some blue stripy washi tape, which I used to stop the title "floating" on the layout.
I also used some forever friends letter stickers to spell out the word "friends" directly onto one of the photos as a sort of subtitle.

As usual I embellished using some buttons, and added some journalling on white paper. I kept everything really simple as I love these photos, and wanted them to speak for themselves.

Hope you like it and that you're having a lovely evening!

Scrapbooking Haul

Did I ever tell you that scrapbooking can be a really expensive hobby? I recently found a website called Papermaze which is a UK based craft shop, and I went a bit crazy.

Hopefully this means I won't buy anything for a while, but I highly doubt it... What have you been splurging on lately?

(Late) Monday Memories #5

I love this page. I'm a bit rubbish at explaining how I created a layout, but this one is basically a few photos from summer that didn't need a page to themselves. They were taken in July/August, so I used bright colours, and mainly used scraps of paper from my stash that I wanted to use up.
I did my usual embellishment with buttons, and kept the whole cluster of photos quite central in the page. For once I didn't use my favourite white glitter thickers, but instead I used some bright pink alphabet stickers from Hobbycraft, I think they're by Papermania but I might be wrong.
Hope you're having a lovely week so far :)
